The Dame

Dames, the way i knew them as a child, don't exist anymore but their social skills have been uploaded to most of the women who came after the Second Wave. It puts me in mind of the way Neanderthals don't exist but most of us carry some of their DNA which makes us a little stronger, a bit more immune to particular evils.

Dames were tough, street smart women who seemed to have appeared in the 1930s and exited sometime in the 1960s. They drank hard liquor, smoked, cursed, liked sex, wore heavy makeup with lots of jewellery and didn't take bullshit from any man. In every way they were the type of women good little girls like me weren't supposed to grow up to be.
