But I Don't Want You to Leave

Two people died recently who were important friends in my early adult years and not surprisingly the theme of loss and regret is one that I have returned to again and again during these pandemic months.
There are two figures here whose lives have been woven together at a very deep level. The male figure on the right is getting ready to embark on his last journey - his feet are already in the boat and his connections to the woman will soon break away. She is reaching out for him trying to stop the process.
Then yesterday news came that a boat is coming for another old friend.
And all I can do is selfishly cry out to all of them, "But I Don't Want You to Leave!"
